Home / Guides / Prices: half vs full day

What the circle island tour really costs

The Grand Circle Island tour is listed from $100, and that number causes most of its bad reviews. It buys the half day. The full loop costs more, and lunch and the Dole extras come on top.

The Grand Circle Island and Haleiwa tour is the most reviewed tour on this site, with 19,681 reviews and a 5.0 rating. It is sold as one listing with two options: a 6.5-hour half day and a 9-hour full day. The headline "from $100" belongs to the half day.

Prices below are from the live Viator listings in October 2026. They change with dates and demand, so the price at checkout is the one that counts.

The quick answer

The $100 price buys the 6.5-hour half day to Dole Plantation and Haleiwa only. The full 9-hour Grand Circle Island day is from $140 per person. Children 3 to 11 get a discounted rate and infants up to 2 sit on a lap. Lunch and the Dole train and maze are extra, and you can cancel free up to 24 hours before.

How much is the Oahu Grand Circle Island tour?

From $100 per person for the 6.5-hour half day, and from $140 per person for the 9-hour full Grand Circle Island day.

Both options share one listing, so read the option name when you pick a time. The full day picks up about an hour earlier.

Why do some guests feel short-changed by the $100 price?

Because $100 is the half day: two recent reviewers wrote that for $100 they "only went to Dole plantation and an old town".

The listing's photos and highlights cover the whole island, so it is easy to book the cheapest time slot and expect the full circle. If you want Halona Blowhole, the Pali Lookout and Byodo-In Temple, choose a time labelled Full Day, which starts at $140.

What does the price include?

A deluxe bus with a restroom on board, a narrating driver-guide, a "Taste of Hawaii" snack with bottled water, and all taxes and fees.

  • Pickup at four Waikiki stops: Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hokulani Waikiki, Hyatt Regency and Waikiki Beach Marriott
  • Driver-guide commentary all day
  • Snack and bottled water (guests report island donuts)
  • Original video, mint and hand towelette
  • Byodo-In Temple, listed as free admission on the full day
  • Hotel drop-off at the end

What costs extra on the day?

Lunch in Haleiwa, plus the Pineapple Express train, the maze and the garden tour at Dole Plantation.

Entry to the Dole Plantation visitor center itself is free. On the full day you get about 30 minutes at Dole, so most people pick one paid attraction at most. One guest was disappointed for the money because the train and maze tickets were not included.

How do the other circle island tours compare on price?

They run from $89 to $186 per person, and the cheaper ones are not always the shorter ones.

What changes with the price is the group size and what is included: snorkel gear, entry fees or lunch.

Majestic tour$1869 hours28Lunch, Byodo-In and Waimea Valley entry

Is the Majestic tour's higher price worth it?

It can be: at $186 it includes lunch, Byodo-In entry (a $10 value) and Waimea Valley entry (a $26 value), which the Grand Circle does not.

Add your own lunch in Haleiwa to the $140 full day and the gap narrows. The Majestic tour also uses a mini-bus for up to 28 guests and is wheelchair accessible. The trade-off: it skips Halona Blowhole and Haleiwa, and some guests found its stops short.

Is the tour cheaper than renting a car?

Not necessarily: the self-guided audio app is only $20 per vehicle, but the car, gas and entry fees are on you.

Driving yourself, non-residents pay $7 per vehicle to park at the Nuuanu Pali Lookout, and Byodo-In and Waimea Valley charge their own entry. See driving around Oahu yourself for the full comparison.

Do children pay less?

Yes: children 3 to 11 get a discounted rate on the Grand Circle Island tour, and infants up to 2 ride on a lap.

The listing puts the child discount at about 31% of the adult price, and infants ride free. Anyone 12 or older pays the adult rate. For ages and limits on the other tours, see the circle island tour with kids.
